We have an exciting new opportunity for a SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER opportunity who can be based at our clients premises in West Cumbria or Warrington, Cheshire and an option for remote working.
About the Role:
To join the SMC Project to deliver the Enabling Works Low Active Drain tie-in detailed design pack. Ideally the candidate needs to be plastics/piping/drainage biased. The new pipework will consist of a mixture of metallic/plastic single wall and twin wall gravity fed drainage manifold from the new SMC facility. The new manifold is to be connected to the existing LD drain which is a buried twin walled co-axial plastic pipe.
Responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the Engineering Quality of the project delivery, ensuring compliance with client specifications and engineering standards. The role reports to the Responsible Engineer to ensure scope changes, time and cost constraints are managed.
Responsible, in cooperation with Client Project Engineering Capability, for the technical quality of all conceptual designs, design schemes and detail drawings and associated design documentation.
Project and multi discipline liaison to ensure production of a coordinated, fit for purpose design solution.
Participation in site surveys.
Maintaining compliance with relevant SL Engineering Standards and applicable legislation.
Participating in Design Reviews and, where appropriate, organising such reviews. Ensuring that subsequent design meets the projects requirements.
Ensuring the confidentiality and security of data and information received from clients.
Supervision of designers in the production of design deliverables.
Supervision of design delivery to satisfy requirements of SL checking and approval procedures.
Ensuring the requirements of the Health & Safety Work Act, CDM, Machineries Directive, Pressure Systems Directive, and the COSHH regulations are understood and complied with.
Liaison with the Project Management Team to ensure effective project delivery to time and cost.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Educated to HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a chartered engineer and member of an appropriate institute.
Ideally plastics/piping/drainage biased.
Experience working in a fast-paced project environment.
Experience of SL working practices.
Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills.
Familiar with ASME B31.3 piping design code.
Experienced in brownfield piping design and production of piping fabrication drawings.
Experienced in production of pipe support design deliverables.
Experience in the use of the below software, systems and design tools:
Revit
AutoCAD
Familiarity with SL systems e.g. Cimage
Strong Excel skills
Replicon timesheet user
Sharepoint (desirable)
Security Clearance Requirements:
Sellafield Baseline Personnel Security Standard (SL BPSS).
SC clearance preferred.
P1 or P4 passholder appropriate to preferred location.
